IMG_7005 Bible Croppedbible teaching courses

Run on alternate Monday evenings 7.30-9.30pm in St. Stephen’s until July 2017. Enrolment termly. The courses are:

  • Open Word – which started on 19 September – is presented by Matthew Hutton. It will take us through the whole Bible to see how God’s grand story hangs together and how He speaks to us through the unfamiliar as well as the better-known bits; an adventure rather than a course.
  • Digging Deeper – which started on 26 September – is presented by Freddy Hedley. It will cover the Old Testament, the Gospels and the Book of Acts. The teaching will be interactive and conversational, designed to build strong spiritual foundations enabling us to live a powerful, transformative Kingdom-centred life.

Details are at the back of church. You can try each on the first evening without committing to either. There is a cost for Digging Deeper which can be covered by St. Stephen’s.

Read Through the Entire Bible in One Year

I have just come to the end of Nicky Gumbel’s “Bible in One Year” and can heartily recommend it. It is only available online (https://www.bibleinoneyear.org), and you get three passages each day under a single over-arching theme (from Psalms/Proverbs, the NT and the OT), each with a very practical devotional comment from Nicky, followed by a single pithy thought from his wife Pippa. So, if you have internet access, why not start it today as your New Year’s resolution? (I have signed up for 2017.) It will also fit in well with the St. Stephen’s plan of working through an overview of the Bible over the course of the 52 Sundays of 2017.
