Job Title: Children and Families Worker
Location: Based at The Chapel and St Stephen’s Church
Responsible to: Children’s Coordinator and Vicar
Job purpose:
To develop and deliver children’s activities with the purpose of encouraging families in the parish to become Christians and grow in faith.
Pay: £10 per hour for 17 hours per week
Children’s Work
a. To support and deliver the children’s work across the parish by engaging children and families and encourage them to grow in faith.
b. To organise, develop and deliver children’s activities at church during Sunday morning family services.
c. To organise, develop and deliver Messy Church, twice per month.
d. To support the running of Little Fellowes, three times per week.
e. To provide space and activities in the Cafe so that children of a range of ages feel welcome.
f. To encourage and support a team of volunteers associated with the children’s work.
g. To signpost families to appropriate support groups, as necessary.
h. To support parents attending Alpha and/or discipleship courses as appropriate.
i. Provide advice to Café, ministry group and other areas of the Church community in order to support the inclusion of children and families.
Management
a. To maintain and update safeguarding training.
b. To seek regular feedback from participants and use to inform programme development
c. To ensure all activities conform to Diocese and Parish Safeguarding Policy
d. To carry out risk assessments for all activities and ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements
e. To keep Facebook updated with Children and Families events and any other church updates as requested.
General
a. To work closely with and in partnership with the Children’s Coordinator
b. To attend and participate fully in team meetings, twice per month, including leading morning prayers as per rota.
c. To complete other jobs, within reasonable boundaries, requested by the Treasurer, Operations Manager, Churchwardens or Minister.

To represent the church, accurately reflect the Christian faith-based motivation of the St Stephen’s community.
